TribalGov.info is intended for the exclusive use of Western Cherokee
Nation citizens; it presents information relating to the administration
of the tribe and tribal assets in much greater detail than would be of
historical or educational interest to the general public. Though
in no way restricted or password protected, this site's content is not
published to search engines and tribal members are encouraged not to
publicize this site to non-tribal members. The tribe's public
information site is located at http://www.westerncherokeenation.org/.
Why is this "your web site"? Because it is maintained by your
tribe's government for the sole benefit of the Western Cherokee
Nation's
People! Unlike the Federal Government, for your tribal government
to function properly, two things must occur simultaneously.
First, the citizenry must have a say in the management of their
government. Secondly, your government must do it's best to
keep you informed of what has happened, what is anticipated and likely
to happen in the immediate future, and what long range goals are in
place.
Therefore, the primary purposes of this site are:
- To provide a central source
location/platform for the
promulgation of information to the People of the Western Cherokee
Nation, from their government, on a "near real-time" basis.
- To solicit input, feedback and
suggestions from
tribal members
whom are in good standing relating to all aspects of the administration
of the tribe.
- To provide a conduit that facilitates
the continuing
dialog
between the tribal people and their representatives as well as
government officials and
staff members.
- To provide a forum for tribal elders
to post their
collective
opinions and recommendations on a myriad of social and cultural issues
for the benefit of all tribal members.
- To provide a central location for the
authorized
distribution of
contact information for government officials.
- To put in place an on-line resource
that may be used
by all Western Cherokee Nation citizens to investigate and/or research
any and every aspect of
official tribal administration, at any time of the day or night.
